Itseh Crem

I'd like to share an anecdote about my maternal great-grandfather, Hartz Wechsler (my Baba's father).  It was, in fact, my Baba who first told me this story.

When my great-grandfather came to America, he saw quite a few ice-cream trucks go by.

"With all those trucks," he remarked, "this Itseh Crem must be a very wealthy man!"

In honor of the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, I am reposting the following.

I love this quote from my Patron Saint, Therese of Lisieux, whose feast we celebrate today:
"Pick up a pin for the love of God, and you may save a soul."
How right, how wise! We may not be called to do great things,but we can do the little, everyday tasks for the love of God, and then how great, how valuable those little tasks become.
No work is menial if it is done for the love of God.

My Favorite Week in Ordinary Time

The first week of October is DEFINITELY my favorite week in Ordinary Time.

Right at the beginning, on October 1st, is the feast of St. Therese of Lisieux.  She is the one I chose for my Patron Saint when I joined the Catholic Church.  

The very next day is the feast of the Guardian Angels.  My parish is under their patronage.

On October 4th, we celebrate the feast of the very beloved St. Francis of Assisi.  As you can imagine, I am really looking forward to that day's Mass on EWTN.

October 5th is the feast of St. Faustina.  I will be praying some extra Divine Mercy chaplets.

The week concludes with another beautiful feast: Our Lady of the Rosary.

Winky Meowing When Fr. Mark is NOT the Celebrant

I've mentioned several times that my cat, Winky, often meows when he sees Fr. Mark on EWTN, especially during the Mass.
However, he also, and quite often, meows if he is in the room with me when Mass begins, and Fr. Mark is not the celebrant, or one of the celebrants.  But he doesn't look at the TV and meow.
No.
If Winky is with me when Mass begins, and Fr. Mark isn't there, he turns around and meows at me!
