Early Morning, Before Mass

I love the early morning before the Mass on EWTN.
Briefly, this is how I spend the time from 6:00 AM until just before 8:00 AM.
The radio wakes me at 6:00, and I pray the Angelus (Regina Caeli during Easter).  Then, I reset the alarm on my radio and go back to sleep until 6:30.
During the time from 6:30 until time for Mass I:
Pray the Morning Offering and some other prayers
Give Winky some food (there is ALWAYS dry food in his dish) and change his water
Have coffee
Pray the Office of Readings and Morning Prayer in the Liturgy of The Hours
Make the bed (cat permitting!)
Read that day's page in my Daily Devotional book. (This year I'm using "My Daily Spiritual Companion", by Marci Alborghetti
Pray at least one of several chaplets I like
Read a little in my Bible
Do some housework (except on Sunday)
Spend some time on the computer (again, cat permitting!)

Appropriate Words to Wake Up To

I have my clock radio set to wake me up every morning, and I never know
what the first thing I hear will be.   Well, today when the radio came on, the
song "Boogie Oogie Oogie" was playing, and the very first words I heard were:
"Get on up!"
So I started the day with a good laugh.

Morning Offering, Morning Coffee, Morning Prayer, Morning Mass, Morning Snack

I'm an early riser. The radio, tuned to WCBS-FM comes on at 5:55 in the morning. So I usually wake up to music. Of course, sometimes I wake up to a "Meow!"
if Winky awakens before I do!
I bless myself with holy water, and make my Morning Offering. Then, after awhile, I make my first cup of coffee.

(I put everything out the night before. This saves time in the morning)
I usually drink that first cup rather quickly; it is my wake-up-all-the-way-and-get-going cup.
A bit later, awake and alert, I pray Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours.
After Mass on EWTN, I make a second cup of coffee. This is my Bible-in-hand cup, my
sip-it-slowly-and-savor-the-flavor cup. With this second cup, and my Bible, I have a light snack (My full breakfast comes later)
It may be a slice of bread (usually rye) and margarine. Perhaps it is a slice of challah, or half of a challah roll. Sometimes, it is a piece of raisin bread. Or it could be half of a bagel with a schmear. Yummmy!
No matter what the snack is, this is just a nice, relaxing moment.

Encouraging news about EWTN's Fr. Anthony

Fr. Anthony hopes to be back on the air in the near future.  Oh, HOW I'm praying for that to happen! https://franciscanmissionaries.c...
