In Other Words..... Meow

Winky has several different ways of meowing at me... none of which are 100% "meows."  Among his sounds are "um-yow", "merrow", "ma-yow", several "mews" in a row, "moi" (French pronunciation), and several others impossible to put into our alphabet.
Incidentally, I read awhile ago that no two cats "meow" at their humans in exactly the same way, and, having known quite a few cats, both mine and other people's, I believe it.  Besides, it makes purrfect sense.

Too Funny!

I saw this on Facebook yesterday, and I almost fell over laughing.
Please click here.

I think that's such a funny coincidence.

Maybe I'll start collecting humorous news items, both past and current, on my computer.

Sibling Kitties

Before we had Winky, Mom and I had Heather, and before we had Heather, we had Ollie and Cleo, who were brother and sister... they really were siblings.
Ollie was more talkative (meowative?) than Cleo.  Quite often, he would stand in front of  Mom and/or me and make a speech.
"Meow, meow, meow, meow," and so on.
When he finished, Cleo would give one single "Meow."
I used to say, "Ollie does the invocation and Cleo does the 'amen'. "

Cat Saves Child

Click here to watch.  Warning: Scary.

The words "Good kitty!" seem SO inadequate here!  And thank God that little
boy is all right!

VERY Appropriate Picture (repost)

In honor of St. Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland,
and St. Gertrude of Nivelles, Patron Saint of cats, both of whom are commemorated
today, I'd like to share this picture.

It took me only a few minutes of searching to find this!

Throwback Thursday

Communicating with a Canadian Cat

This post is taken, slightly modified, from one of my old blogs.
More than 20 years ago, my mother, stepfather, grandmother, stepniece and I spent a few days in Toronto. On the first night, we saw a cat lying in a yard relaxing, not unlike the American kitties. Being a catlover, I greeted the cat, "Kitty kitty". The cat ignored me. I used all the usual terms of endearment people address to cats; no response. Finally it occurred to me that we were in Canada, and I said, "Meowez-vous français?"
And the cat looked up and meowed!

Encouraging news about EWTN's Fr. Anthony

Fr. Anthony hopes to be back on the air in the near future.  Oh, HOW I'm praying for that to happen! https://franciscanmissionaries.c...
