Singing To Winky

Yes, I sing to my cat, and he seems to enjoy it.
Sometimes I'll sing the first part of the "Cat Duet."
Sometimes I sing the chorus to Do Wah Diddy, changing the
words to:
Mew, my kitty, kitty purr, kitty mew.
Every now and then I sing the "Meow Mix" jingle.
And every night, when Winky jumps onto the top of the couch
to go to sleep, I pet him and sing "Soft Kitty."

Connecting Two Songs

There are two songs from the 1960s that I've always connected to each other.  I like to think that The Little Old Lady From Pasadena and the girl in Fun, Fun, Fun are grandmother and granddaughter!

Truncated Version of "Silent Night"

References to Jesus removed in performance of "Silent Night."

I grew up in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood, and I never knew ANYBODY who was offended by Christians singing "Silent Night."

Wake Up, Little Susie

I was in nursery school when The Everly Brothers released "Wake Up, Little Susie." Back then, I had never heard of drive-in movies. I also had no idea what the words, "Our reputation is shot" meant. To me, it was just a song about a boy and a girl who had fallen asleep at the movies, and were going to be very late going home.
And so, the first time I heard the song, I asked, with all the logic of a little kid of three and a half, "Well, why didn't their mommies just come and get them?"

Song Image

Whenever I hear "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" by KC and the Sunshine Band, I get a picture in my mind of
a baby discovering that a booty makes a lousy rattle!

Encouraging news about EWTN's Fr. Anthony

Fr. Anthony hopes to be back on the air in the near future.  Oh, HOW I'm praying for that to happen! https://franciscanmissionaries.c...
