I am a Jewish convert to Catholicism, blogging on a variety of subjects.
The motto for this blog is:
"Rejoice always, pray constantly,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition.
This is adapted from a post in one of my old blogs. Fifty year ago today, my Baba became an American citizen. I did not, however, learn about this until after her death.
In retrospect, I think I would have liked to be at the ceremony, or at least to have celebrated the event in some way. And not just because my favorite song at that time just happened to be America the Beautiful!
I wonder if there are any families who commemorate, in some way, the anniversary of the day one of them, perhaps now deceased, became a naturalized American, while at the same time honoring their heritage from the old country.
