The First Saint I Ever Heard Of (reposted)

Slightly adapted from a post in one of my old blogs

Today is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary.  People love to quote the saints, but we cannot quote St. Joseph. None of his words have been preserved.
I take that back about not being able to quote St. Joseph. We cannot quote his words, but we can, and should, "quote" his devotion to Jesus and Mary.
St. Joseph was the first saint I ever heard of, but that was because of the children's aspirins! LOL!
I like simple, homely {homely as in homelike, not, definitely not, as in unattractive] images. I love to think about St. Joseph walking the floor when the Baby Jesus was teething.

Reviving and Revising an Old Collection

Some of you may remember my old Vintage Media Collection, which has been retired for quite some time now.  Well, today I decided to revive, and also to revise, that collection. Or perhaps I should say that I've started a new collection, which includes some items from the old one.
I'm now collecting old print advertisements, nothing more recent than 1949. 
I'm not making another blog this time. I'm storing these ads in a folder on my computer. 
From time to time, however, I will share a new acquisition.

Rehousing My Break-Off Collection

I was tired of keeping my collection in a dresser drawer, so I decided to do something about it.  I transferred my Break-Offs to a shoe box, and then I put the box on one of my bookshelves.  The shoe box has a good, tight lid, so Winky can't get at the collection. 
I'd planned, at one time, to put my Break-Offs into one or more of those rectangular plastic  containers with clear covers that Chinese food comes in. That didn't work, however, because no matter how much I washed them, they were still too greasy.
I'm thinking of buying some clear plastic food containers, and then arranging the items in my collection by size and/or by what they are made of. But I refuse to spend more than $5.00 at the very most.  After all, I don't spend any money on the items in this collection.
