expected to read any more Salinger.
Then, many years later, I read There's A Boy In The Girls' Bathroom, by Louis Sachar. Now, THAT'S one of my favorites. Anyway, in this book, one of the characters, a school counselor named Carla, reads a passage from another Salinger book: Raise High The Roof Beam, Carpenters.
I liked the quote enough that, after more than thirty years, I gave J.D. Salinger another try.
I read Raise High The Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction. {I'm about due for a re-read of those novellas}. Next, I went on to Franny and Zooey. In this book, Franny reads The Way Of A Pilgrim, which I'd never heard of before, but is now another great favorite of mine. {I have, among books, a great many great favorites!}
Perhaps what I love best about Franny and Zooey is that it introduced me to The Way Of A Pilgrim!
But I still don't plan to re-read Catcher In The Rye.

One bad book can sour me to an author, even if others love him/her; sometimes I too an lucky and give a good one another try.
