Sunday Books?

You may have noticed some changes to my reading lists these past few weeks.  The words Reserved For Sunday no longer appear.  

Well, there is a reason for that.  I realized... and why it didn't occur to me sooner I don't know.... that by reserving these books for Sunday, I was actually depriving myself of some good
Catholic reading during the other six days. My Bible readings and daily devotions were not enough, so I decided to read more
Catholic books during the week.

But I still have a rule when it comes to my Sunday reading:

I don't read any secular books that I don't already know and love.

New Chapter Posted At Last!

After a too-long hiatus, I've FINALLY added a new chapter to my ongoing Another World fic, 23rd Precinct.   It feels SO good, SO right to be at work on my fan fiction again.

AAARRGGGHHH!!!!

One evening years ago, at a party in the Church Hall, (I forget what the party was for) a woman sitting at the same table as I was asked me what I did for a living.
Well, I had recently sold a couple of my writings... not, I'll admit, for a great deal of money, but enough to make me feel
like an almost professional writer.
I smiled and said, "I'm a writer."
"But what kind of work do you do?" the woman wanted to know.
"I write," I replied, resisting the temptation to add the word duh.
"Oh," my interrogator went on, wrinkling her nose, "then you don't work?"

I muttered under my breath, "Murder is a mortal sin, murder is a mortal sin, murder is a mortal sin...."

Things That Drive Me Crazy

This is a more-or-less random list of things that drive me crazy, bonkers, nuts.  Some are more serious than others.

1: Hearing or reading about acts of cruelty to children, the elderly, the disabled, or animals.  This makes me furious, but, even more than that, it makes me sad.  Sad for the victims.  Sad for the abusers.

2: Potty-mouth parents who can't figure out where their kids pick up that language.

3: (Closely connected to the above)  Seeing the f-word in a children's book. I came across it once, years ago, and that is all I remember about the book.  I don't even remember the title or the author.

4: Reading a book and finding that there are pages missing.

5:  Having to type this list standing up because my cat, Winky, is asleep on the chair.
