Spam: Deleted UNOPENED

I hate SPAM, and I don't mean the kind that comes in a can. (I've never eaten it, so I can't express an opinion.) I'm talking about SPAM e-mail.
I have a rule... if I don't know the sender, I don't open the mail.
I learned that the hard way years ago when I opened one with the subject "I reported you to AOL," and found myself in a FILTHY porn site... not that there is any such thing as CLEAN porn!)  I couldn't get out of the site until I shut down and restarted my computer.
So now, I simply delete SPAM without opening it, but I do respond, from time to time, in my own mind, but ONLY in my
own mind.
"Hey, YOU! Stop sending me your photos."
Hey, YOU!  Stop sending me your SPAM!
"It is impolite to send your personal photos."
It is REALLY impolite to send your SPAM!
"Did you try to contact me?"
No, but I wish my foot could contact your butt!
"To stop getting these notifiations (actual spelling)
No, thanks! Why should I confirm my e-mail address to you?

Power Failure [Most of this is copied from my Notepad]

I had a power failure on Friday.  The light and everything else went
off.  It lasted about a minute, but that was long enough.
I was able to turn my TV back on (Thank God!   I'd go crazy if, on
top of everything else, I couldn't watch the Mass on EWTN.), and
reset the clock on my radio, but as of this writing (Monday, 6:26 PM...
I'm writing this post in dribs and drabs on Notepad), I still have no phone
and no Internet.
I can still read some books in my Kindle Cloud Reader, but none of my
Google Play books.  Worse, I can't access openlibrary.org, and that
means I could wind up with overdue books.  I wonder how they handle
that.
I'm pretty sure some of the crops I have on FarmVille will wither, but it's not as if they cost actual money to plant.
The worst part is not being able to contact my online friends, and
not being able to post updates for The Share-Care-Prayer Club.
And now it is Tuesday, and we had a blizzard.  There was a whole
list on TV of places that were closed. They might just as well have said:
LONG ISLAND... CLOSED.
And now it is Thursday, and I'm back online [obviously, I'm back online!]

Winky and the Computer

Winky's been spending a great deal of time around the computer lately.  If cats could type, he'd probably be on Facebook and Twitter... and he would definitely have a blog.

Winky's New Favorite Spot

Winky has a new favorite spot.. the computer chair!  He spends a great deal of time curled up in that chair.  This has caused a
curtailment in my time on the computer, because I just don't
have the heart to make him move.

Finally Blogging About This

This is a cute incident that happened at least two years ago, when I was still living in Brooklyn.  It's something that I've always planned to share eventually.  Well, eventually has
become now.
Often, when I'm sitting on the sofa, Winky will climb onto
the back. Every now and then, he will reach down and pet
me, the way that I pet him.
One day, Winky was stretched out on top of the computer that
I had then. (The one I have now is too thin for him to be able to
to that.)
I started to watch "Life On The Rock" on YouTube.... and Winky
reached down and petted Fr. Mark!

When Things Go Wrong on the Computer

Some, but not all, of the following "computer oys" have happened to me.
Have you ever sent an e-mail, or posted something on a message board, in the heat of anger, and then, when it was too late, said to yourself, "What was I
thinking?"
When that happens, it is time for (cringe cringe cringe) Operation Apology. And crow is NOT the
most savory dish in the world.
Have you ever sent or posted something that was taken the wrong way because you didn't include a
smiley?
Have you ever corrected somebody's spelling on a message board, only to find that your own post contanes more than one glaring eror in speling?
Have you ever been in the middle of writing something absolutely brilliant, sparkling, your best work ever.... and the computer crashed?
Have you ever sent something meant for just one
person to everyone on your group's e-mail list? Nine out of ten times, it will be something extremely personal, something you did NOT want to share with
the whole group.
Sometimes, however, this can turn out to be a good thing, because it is then that you find out who your real on-line friends are.
Has your cat ever walked across the keyboard while you were looking at your shopping cart, thereby placing an order for you?
For multibloggers: Have you ever posted something to the wrong blog?
If you can answer "Yes" to any of these questions,
then all I can say is "Welcome to the club!"
Of course, the up side of these computer mishaps is....
they make great blog material!

Computer Issues

I've been offline due to computer problems.  I couldn't access anything online OR offline.
The problem has been fixed (as you must have guessed!)
and I am back in action.

Old Meets New: Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (silent movie)

Here is another post from one of my old blogs.
This post has, by necessity, been edited.

I love to watch silent movies on the computer. It's fascinating to me to be able to use new technology to watch these old-fashioned, yet still entertaining, movies. Here is one I found on YouTube.
There were two originally, but one was removed from YouTube due to copyright infringement.

Encouraging news about EWTN's Fr. Anthony

Fr. Anthony hopes to be back on the air in the near future.  Oh, HOW I'm praying for that to happen! https://franciscanmissionaries.c...
