A Fond, Sad Goodbye

I just needed to find a really good, reliable host site.

I posted the above in May, 2014.  Well, today I have to post that The Share-Care-Prayer Club will soon be gone.  The host site,  awestruck.tv, is closing.

Hi Rochelle: I just sent the following message to you on Awestruck, I also went to your profile to see if there was any conytact info for you and saw the link to your blog.) Anyway, this is what I sent, and in case you no longer login to Awestruck, I'm posting the message here:

"Hi, I hope you still check in to Awestruck while it is still up. I was recently invited to join a new Catholic social community called "Hozana." It is not quite like Awestruck, it IS Catholic, but seems to be focused almost exclusively on prayer. It is an online community where people gather together to lift each other up in prayer. I thought you might like it.

The address: http://hozana.org

My profile: https://hozana.org/en/user/289138

I just joined, so I'm not totally familiar with it, but it seems like a nice place.

I hope to see you there!"

Anyway, that was it. I do hope you check it out and see if it is to your liking. It may be a wonderful replacement for your Awestruck work.

Thank you so much! I've just registered, but due to problems with my computer, I can't start a group there, although I can join groups.
Would you like to re-start The Share-Care-Prayer Club for me? I would then join, as just another member.

I'm doing it now; I just found a royalty-free image for the banner and will just copy and paste your Groups description from Awestruck.

I just created it; it requires approval. Ince that happens, I'll post the link here. If you could follow me on Hozana, it would be easier to communicate about it and perhaps make you an admin (if that's allowed.) https://hozana.org/en/user/289138

Thanks! I'm now following you.

It's up! Go here: https://hozana.org/en/community/8004-the-share-care-prayer-club

Once you're in, I'll add you as manager.

I'm in! Thank you so much, God bless you, and Merry Christmas!

How do we post/publish to the group?

Paulcoholic said...

I just sent you a message on Hozana, but I'll post it here , too as I'm having some difficulty in reading messages on there. Apparently in order to add you as Community Manager of the Club, I need to invite you by email address. I can't just invite members by way of their profile. (You can email me to sobercatholic at gmail dot com)

Once you're the manager, it's all yours!

There should be a link on the page that says "write a post." Actually, I just checked another Community to see how it's done over there, and I don't see a way there to post. Hmmm.... there may be a problem....

OK, based on what I've found, the only way people can post things is in the comments to posts. I think only Community Creators, Managers and something called "Bearers" can originate posts, mere members can only reply.

My e-mail isn't working... computer problems. So could you please make a post to the group, so I can respond to it? Thanks!

Paulcoholic said...

All right.

Paulcoholic said...

Done! I hope you can get at least your email issue fixed soon! I do not think that I will be getting to Hozana everyday, although I will try. Once I can get you to be a Com unity Manager, you'l have control over creating posts and moderating comments. I may see if I can email them to find out about other ways of adminning the Group w/o using email.

Rochelle said...

Thanks! I can't get my computer fixed... already tried twice, and a new one is too expensive because I'm disabled and on a fixed income.
And I'm having trouble posting a comment to the group.

Hi Rochelle. I am afraid that the Club may have to be taken down. I have spoken with one of the nice people who run Hozana and the Club needs some "fine-tuning" in order for it to be compliant with their network. Since you are having problems even posting to the topic I started, there seems to be no other solution than to either wait until you resolve your PC problems in some way, or find another online venue that is compatible with your PC. The Hozana person I have been speaking with said that they might be able to add you as Community Manager. If they can add you to it, perhaps things are resolved. If they do, and you still cannot do anything, then I'll take the Club down.

This is beyond the time I can afford to devote to it. Between home life, work, and my own apostolates and callings, I won't be able to get more involved than just the occasional posting. Given that I also need to create and work on a prayer community for alcoholics and addicts (that was why I was invited to join), solving and working out how to develop the Club on Hozana and get it in proper working order is too much right now. Your inability to manage and post to the Group is unfortunately a deal breaker right now. I sent the link to this post to the lady I was corresponding with; perhaps she'll join the discussion.

Thanks, but I will not be able to solve my computer problems, but I may be able to set up the group on https://www.tapatalk.com.

OK, then. I'll let the Hozana people know and I'll end the Community over there. I'm really sorry. The question begs to be asked, though. With your PC issues being this severe, is it wise to continue the Group?

There are decent, inexpensive PCs. Chromebooks are well-regarded.

Paulcoholic said...

I'll still wait a day before taking down the Club on Hozana. Again, I am sorry, I meant well in telling you about Hozana. I was unaware of your computer problems.

Rochelle said...

Chromebooks are still too expensive for me. As for continuing the group, I can set it up on Facebook. I may even be able to add a chat room.
I will, however, need to open it to non-Catholics. I don't have a problem with that.
Joining Facebook is easy if you don't already have an account.

Dear Rochelle,
I'm Danielle, the Hozana volunteer with whom Paul is corresponding.
I can set you up as a community manager for the Club, but I'll need the email address with which you registered on Hozana. We, as administrators, cannot see who the members are in the prayer groups, (unless of course, they choose to comment) it's a privacy feature. We can only tell how many members there are.

We can try and see if the way our system works fits your needs. It doesn't function as a forum, and interactions are slightly limited. If you find that you don't like the way it works, just let me know, I won't be offended the least. Of course, you're welcome to stay on Hozana and see if we can bring you something positive in your spiritual life - I'm sure we can!

On a side note, if you are in the US, you may want to check into an organization called "Love INC". It's nationwide, and it groups together multiple churches' resources to help people. Among other things, they do "computer work" where volunteers repair malfunctioning computers or offer working computers if they cannot repair.

Let me know if I can help in any other ways.
Blessings,
- Danielle.

I know you meant well.

Rochelle said...

Danielle, thanks but I don't need any resources; I already have all the help I need. As for my spiritual life, it is very positive.
But again, thanks!
