Sad News

Fr. Anthony gave us some sad news at the start of today's Mass.  Fr. Benedict Groeschel passed away last night.
God rest his soul.

Update on Bishop Sheen

Here is some more information regarding the suspension of

Bishop Sheen's Cause.

Fulton Sheen sainthood effort halted

This is a great disappointment to me.. and I'm afraid we can start looking for
some Catholic-bashing over this.

Popes John XXIII and John Paul II to be Canonized

http://www.ewtnnews.com/catholic-news/Vatican.php?id=7990

Okay, just a couple of thoughts, now that I've stopped cheering!

1: I wasn't a Catholic yet, and had no idea that I ever would be,
when Pope John XX111 died, but I vividly remember my grandpa
saying, "He was a good man, and not an anta-semit" (Grandpa
used the Yiddish words for anti-Semite.)

2: I felt for years after I joined the Church that there was too big a gap
between the Joyful and Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary, and so I
was VERY happy when John Paul II added the Luminous Mysteries.

Pope Benedict XVI announces his retirement :: EWTN News

I heard this on the radio early this morning, but I didn't quite believe it until Fr. Anthony confirmed it at the beginning of this morning's Mass on EWTN.
Something tells me that many, many of us, if not all of us, will be blogging on this topic.
God bless Pope Benedict XVI, and give the College of Cardinals wisdom in electing his successor.

VENERABLE Fulton J. Sheen

Cardinal Dolan: religious liberty concerns ‘off the table’ for White House :: EWTN News
Thumbs up to Cardinal Dolan!
And thumbs down to Barack Obama!
By taking religious liberty concerns off the table, Mr. Obama is slowly (maybe not
so slowly) but surely changing our nation from a democracy to a
dictatorship.

Priest Assaulted

Fr. Anthony Mary spoke about this tragic situation at this morning's Mass on EWTN, and asked that we pray for Fr. Isi, and for
his attackers.

This Is Absolutely Heartbreaking!!!!!

I know I'm not the only one who is heartsick, but heartsick over this.
But is there anything, anything whatsoever to be thankful for in this situation?
Yes, actually, there is.
Thank God for all those who will now be praying harder than ever for John Corapi, and thank God for all the angels and saints fighting for him.
Satan will NOT have the last word!!!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell Satan, and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
